Woman's head cloth with eclectic motifs. Khaddar cotton is covered with silk floss in patterns of animals, geometric shapes, flowers, and the tree of life with including intentional mistakes, or nazar butti, to ward off the evil eye. Crafted in the mid-20th century in the Punjab region of India.
This textile was intended as a garment and it would also be a gorgeous bed or table cover. The beauty of the design and vibrant colors would also make an interesting wall hanging. There is minimal wear and missing threads, as pictured, due to age and use.
